Prepay Your Organic Food. Keep Your Data. Lock In Today's Prices.
UK food inflation is heading for 9% by the end of 2026, and banks now require biometric scans for payments over £750. The Good Food Project Store Credit Wallet is a customer-funded prepay account that sits outside the banking system, earns you a discount on every order for 12 months, and lets you stock up before prices move again.

What is a Store Credit Wallet?
What it is
The Wallet is a customer-funded store credit account held with Good Food Project. You load it with money, we add a setup bonus on top, and the full balance sits ready to spend whenever you want at goodfoodproject.co.uk. Your balance is tied to your email address and a unique Wallet code. It is not a bank account, not a debit card, and not a loyalty scheme. It sits outside the traditional banking system entirely. The balance itself never expires. The only thing with a time limit is the 12-month discount period that runs from the date you set up or top up.
How you load it
Bank transfer is how we prefer to trade with you. We would rather not hand 2% of every transaction to a card company for the privilege of you and us doing business together, so when you top up by bank transfer, that 2% comes straight back to you as an extra bonus on every load, not into a processor's pocket. Card payment is available if bank transfer is not practical for you, but it is not the route we actively encourage.
What you get
Your setup bonus is added to the balance the moment the Wallet is live. From there, the discount runs automatically at checkout on every order you place for the next 12 months. There are no codes to type in, no offers to remember, no expiry dates to track. The 2% bank transfer bonus is added every single time you top up by bank transfer, not just the first time. And the Wallet discount stacks with any promotional codes we are running so you often get double discounts.
I started with a small amount on my wallet but I very quickly realised that it was in my best interest to put as much as I could on it. It isn't just food but all the other things that Steve and Jane are adding, including bigger things like solar generators. I also appreciate the many and varied discounts they offer that can be loaded on top of each other, plus the discount I receive as a thank you for loading our Wallets for ongoing use.
Wallet Tiers
The amount you load onto your Wallet sets your discount tier for the next 12 months. There are five tiers, starting at £300 and running up to the limited edition £2,000 level. If you are loading £1,000 or more, a split payment option is available, explained in more detail further down the page.

The Bigger Picture
Why food prices are moving right now
The Food and Drink Federation has revised its forecast upward and now expects UK food price inflation to reach at least 9% by the end of 2026. The Institute of Grocery Distribution is warning food inflation could hit 8% by June 2026, adding around £150 to the average annual grocery bill. UK diesel is above 171p a litre with Brent crude above $100 a barrel, which feeds directly into the cost of everything that moves by road. Parcelforce and Royal Mail are both raising fuel surcharges by over 50% next month. On top of all that, UK banks now require biometric verification for everyday payments over £750. None of these numbers are speculation. Our response is practical: give customers a way to prepay food at today's prices, outside the banking system, with a discount running alongside it.
The five pillars of the Food Security Plan
The Wallet is one part of a bigger picture. Our full Food Security Plan has five pillars, built from years of working with customers who want more control over their food supply, their money, and their data. Here they are, stripped back to the essentials.
- Stock up at home. The single most effective food security action any household can take.
- Use the GFP Preorder service for the widest range and best prices on long shelf life food, essentials, supplements, and natural remedies.
- Support local farmers, butchers, bakers, and growers wherever possible. Use GFP for anything you cannot source locally.
- Move part of your household grocery budget off grid through the Store Credit Wallet system.
- Build community through GFP events and the wider customer base.
The Full Food Security Plan Brochure
If you want the full written strategy behind everything on this page, we have built an interactive brochure that covers every pillar in depth, with the data, the sourcing notes, and the practical steps laid out in order. It takes about twenty minutes to read and gives you the complete picture.

Here is what biometric verification for payments over £750 actually means in practice. When you try to send a bank transfer, pay a contactless payment, or authorise a card transaction above that threshold, your bank will require a thumbprint scan or a facial scan before it releases the funds. This is not a warning about something that might happen in the future. It is live policy at UK high street banks right now, and the threshold is being enforced in day-to-day banking apps.
For our customers, this matters more than it might for the average shopper. A weekly grocery order with Preorder, a quarterly stock-up on essentials, or a household supplement top-up can all push over £750 in a single transaction without anyone trying to spend big. Every time that happens, your bank logs a biometric record against the payment.
The Wallet gives you a way around this. For top-ups of £1,000 or more, we can split the payment into two bank transfers of £500 each, keeping both below the biometric threshold. The money moves into your Wallet exactly the same way. The data stays yours.
The broader principle is this. The Wallet is private payment infrastructure for food. Keeping your grocery budget outside the banking surveillance system is a reasonable, practical decision, and an increasing number of our customers are making it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my Wallet balance safe?
Your balance is held by Good Food Project as store credit, tied to your email address and a unique Wallet code. Nobody else can access it. It is covered by the same protections that apply to any customer balance held with a UK-registered business. We are VAT registered, organic certified with OF&G, and operating from two sites in Glasgow and Perth. The money is there whenever you need to spend it.
Can I get my money back if I change my mind?
Your balance does not expire, so you can spend it whenever you want. If something has changed and you need to talk through a refund, call 0800 098 8678 and we will work it out with you directly. No forms, no hoops, just a conversation.
How do I actually use my Wallet at checkout?
When you check out at goodfoodproject.co.uk, your Wallet balance is applied to the order automatically. The discount comes off at the same time. Your balance is drawn down in real time and you can see exactly what is left after every order.
Does the discount apply to every product?
Yes. Every product, every category, every order, for 12 months from the date of setup or top-up. No exclusions.
Can I have more than one Wallet?
One Wallet per email address. If you top up, the discount tier resets for 12 months from the date of the new top-up. So if you are on the 5% tier and you top up to the £1,000 level six months in, you move straight onto the 10% tier for a fresh 12 months.
What happens after my 12 months are up?
The balance itself never expires. If you want to carry on with the discount, top up again and the 12-month period resets from the new top-up date. If you do not, you can still spend your remaining balance at any time, just without the active discount applied.
Why would I trust my money outside a bank?
You are not leaving money outside a bank in the way that phrase suggests. You are prepaying for food and essentials from a business you already buy from. The money works for you through a discount on every order for 12 months, and through the setup bonus on top. Compare that to cash sitting in a low-interest savings account, and the numbers speak for themselves.
What if I need to speak to someone before deciding?
Call 0800 098 8678. Steve or Jane will talk it through with you directly. No call centre, no script, no waiting on hold for twenty minutes. If we cannot pick up, leave a message and we will come back to you the same day.
